Capture One Retouched Export Help
How To Export Retouched File Names In Capture One
You have your images all edited in Capture One and you're ready to export them with "-Retouched" added to the end of the file name like our File Naming and Retouching Workflow instructions say. Use the steps below to set up a Capture One Export Recipe that you can use to export these files with the correct naming.Step 1 – Open The Export Tool Tab
In Capture One, Navigate to the “Export” tool tab.Note: If the “Export” tool tab is not shown, click the three vertical dots icon on the right of the main menu, select “Add Tool Tab”, then select “Export”. It may also be hidden behind the orange >> icon if too many tool tabs are open for the size of the panel.
Step 2 – Duplicate The “Headshot Tools” Recipe
We’re now going to use the existing “Headshot Tools” recipe as the basis for creating a new retouched images only recipe.Under the “Export Recipes” section, right-click the “Headshot Tools” export recipe and click “Duplicate Recipe”. Then name this new recipe “Headshot Tools -Retouched”.
Note: If you don’t see this “Headshot Tools” export recipe, please go back to the Capture One Setup Instructions and complete the Export Settings setup step then continue with this guide.
Step 3 – Subfolder Setup (Optional)
This step is not required but you may want to set the “Subfolder” text box within the “Export Location” section to “Retouched Images”. This will place your exported images in a folder titled "Retouched Images" inside the session's "Output" folder.Ex: Test Job/Output/Retouched Images
This is helpful for keeping your retouched images away from your original proofs. If you choose to do this, please remember that when you upload these retouched images, you’ll need to select this new “Test Job/Output/Retouched Images” folder instead of the normal “Test Job/Output/Headshot Tools” folder!
Step 4 – Configure Renaming Settings
In the “Export Naming” section’s “Format” box type “-Retouched” to the right of the “Image Name” token. This box should now read:Image Name-Retouched
Step 5 – Select Your New Retouched Recipe
Now, in the Export Recipe list, make sure ONLY the new “Headshot Tools -Retouched” export recipe is checked. Make sure you scroll up and down the list to ensure that no other checked recipes are hiding.Step 6 – Export Your Retouched Images
You can now export images by first selecting the images you want to export, then pressing Command + D on Mac or Control + D on Windows. This export recipe will export images similarly to what you’re used to with the original “Headshot Tools” recipe, but all images will receive hyphen Retouched at the end of the filename.
Example: Smith_John_123-0001-Retouched.jpg
You're all set! If you're following the Retouching Workflow guide, you can continue with the next step.
